Current Research Project

ComTax (A Community-driven Curation Process for Taxonomic Databases)
Department of Computing, the Open University, UK
2012 - present

This project is to develop and establish a community-driven curation process among practising taxonomists by developing an automated tool to exploit the historic legacy of biodiversity literature.

MIP (Medical Information Processing)
2007 - present

This project is to apply natural language processing (NLP) techniques to textual documents in Electronic Health Records (EHR) in order to extract medical information of interests to support knowledge discovery in desease treatments.

Past Projects

MaTREx (Make Tacit Knowledge in Requirements Explicit)
Department of Computing, the Open University, UK
2008 - 2012

This project is to investigate techniques for analysing natural language requirements, in order to discover, manage, and mitigate the negative effects of tacit knowledge in requirements.

Bio-MITA (Mining Term Associations from Literature to Support Knowledge Discovery in Biology)
School of Computer Science, the University of Manchester, UK
2005 - 2008

This project was to extract potentially useful term associations from biomedical literature for supporting biological knowledge discovery.

DIR (Distributed Information Retrieval and Web Search)
School of IT & Computer Science, University of Wollongong, Australia
2002 - 2005

This project was the basis of my PhD research and was to investigate methodologies for information source selection in distributed information environments.

An agent-based approach for information source selection in distributed information environments
School of IT & Computer Science, University of Wollongong, Australia
2001 - 2002

Short project was based on my research master study, which introduced a new approach, agent-based intelligent information source selection.
